SplitChaos Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your use of SplitChaos. By downloading, accessing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use SplitChaos.
What SplitChaos Does
SplitChaos helps people create shared groups, record expenses, calculate suggested balances, record settlement entries, attach receipts, and receive optional notifications and reminders. It is an informal record-keeping tool only. SplitChaos does not move money, hold funds, verify transactions, provide financial advice, or act as a bank or payment service.
Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use SplitChaos. You may use a guest account or sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping your device and account access secure and for activity that occurs through your account.
Your Content and Shared Groups
You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the names, expenses, receipts, settlement records, invite codes, and other content you add. Only invite people who are intended to have access to the group. Group content is shared with all current group members.
SplitChaos is designed for collaborative groups. Any group member may be able to rename the group, change settings, invite or remove members, edit shared information, or delete the group. Before joining a group, make sure you trust its members. Do not add sensitive personal, financial, health, identity, or confidential information to expenses, group names, notes, or receipt images.
Acceptable Use
- Do not misuse invite codes or attempt to access groups you are not part of.
- Do not upload harmful, illegal, or abusive content.
- Do not impersonate others, harass users, or use the app to deceive anyone about a payment or balance.
- Do not interfere with the app, its data, other users, or its security controls.
- Do not use automated means to scrape, overload, reverse engineer, or disrupt the service except where law permits.
Receipts and Notifications
Receipt images are optional. By attaching one, you confirm that you have the right to share it with the group. Notification delivery depends on your device settings, network connection, Apple Push Notification service, and Firebase Cloud Messaging. Notifications may be delayed, unavailable, or not delivered. You can turn them off at any time.
Third-Party Services
SplitChaos uses third-party services including Firebase, Apple Sign In, Google Sign-In, Apple Push Notification service, and the App Store. Your use of those services may be subject to their separate terms and policies.
Changes, Availability, and Ending Access
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may restrict or end access where reasonably necessary to protect the app, users, or comply with law. The app may be unavailable due to network, device, Firebase, Apple, Google, or other service-provider issues.
Disclaimer
SplitChaos is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we do not make warranties about accuracy, reliability, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Settlement results are calculated from user-entered data and should be checked by the people involved before money changes hands.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, SplitChaos and its developer are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from inaccurate entries, group-member actions, missed notifications, unavailable services, lost receipt images, or decisions made using the app. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the app changes. The updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
